The anarchists have been in Portland for years, causing damage. There has been a truce of sorts that the street fighters don’t use lethal force.

The anarchists know the names and home addresses and families of Portland cops. Neither side is ready for the nuclear option.
The media are a big part of the continued fighting. They keep their silence or downplay the damage to stay safe also.

I personally drove up on a violent demonstration several years ago. But was able to cut through parking lots to get away.

Lots of cops, fire department, and at least 2 news outlet cams.

Went home and told my family what I saw, turned on the news........nothing.

No news story that evening or the next day from the two news stations that were there.
