Well, then we understand each other. If you found sobriety then I’m happy for you. My apologies for being... terse. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy marijuana’s effects.

But the obsession with it, like alcohol damn near killed me

and others. I just get annoyed with the perception or more over the hypocritical argument that marijuana is considered something beyond the pale and alcohol gets a free pass.

That’s not to say marijuana isn’t harmful in a number of way’s, it is. It’s just not harmful to the mind and body and society in the way alcohol is.

I’m 64.

No apologies necessary. I was spoiling for an argument.

Full disclosure, I was sober from alcohol for 20 years but I began drinking again about 5 years ago and that ended up costing me my job and nearly my marriage so I know the devastation alcohol can wreak on a person.

I now have it under control. I can drink a few cans of beer or a few glasses of wine without getting totally blitzed. In fact, I've been enjoying a bottle of Pinot Noir tonight. I've had a pleasant buzz going on all night.

I have no doubt that both drugs and alcohol are fueling the riots that are going on today but it's just too damn coincidental that the mayhem began just a few short years after the whole drug legalization mindset became socially acceptable while Prohibition ended some 80 years ago.

Again, I'm not saying throw drug users behind bars and throw away the key but outright legality is not the answer.
