Minnesota 2020: North Star State in Play for Presidential and US Senate Races

A new Emerson College Poll finds Minnesota is competitive again in 2020, with 50% of voters planning on supporting former VP Joe Biden and 47% intending to vote for President Trump. While the race is close, only 3% of voters remain undecided. Of voters who plan to vote by mail, 91% plan to vote for Biden, and of those who plan to vote in person, 68% plan to vote for Trump.

A second poll within a couple of days shows Minnesota competitive - for President and Senate.

I think Trump takes Minnesota. He only lost it by 1.5% in 2016. The Biden street rioting and "defund the police" will give him the state. Trump may pull Lewis over the top for Senate also as a bonus.

I live in a southern suburb which normally goes republican. I think Trump can win here, but he’ll have to arrange some boat parades and other types of activities, plus visit another time before the election. In other words, put in some money and effort and it will pay off.

These numbers make me very uneasy. My nightmare:

With a healthy lead in mail-in voting, ANTIFA and BLM thugs start appearing at all in-person voting locations. They're there to discourage, disrupt, and delay voters, and if need be, DESTROY polling locations.

Those numbers may look outlandish — but they are totally consistent with June’s election results here in KY...

Aren't there a lot of Norwegians in Minnesota too? At least Garrison Keillor's monologues about Lake Wobegon frequently mentioned "Norwegian bachelor farmers."

To compromise, they could translate the state motto (currently in French) into Old Norse. That would honor the Vikings who reached the state ca. 1352, as attested by the Kensington runestone (now housed in a museum in Alexandria, Minn.).
