It looked to me as if he had already fell to his knees and had dropped his gun and was putting his hands up when the cop shot him. It also looked like the cop had his gun drawn well before the guy even opened his door…this all over a noise complaint. SMH.

FWIW, a few months after I moved into an apartment in 2010 I heard a loud knocking at my apartment door at about 2 AM on a Saturday morning. When I went to the door and looked out the peep hole but I couldn’t clearly see who it was and shouted “who is this” and the guy said “This is the police”. But looking through the peep hole again, he didn’t look like a cop and I said, “so put your badge up so I can see it”, and the guy laughed and said, “I aint no cop, this is Jimmy and I’m here to see Doug”. I said “there is no one named Doug living here, leave now!” and he did. I think the guy was drunk or high, perhaps looking for his drug dealer and got the apartment # wrong.

Just because someone says they are the police, that doesn’t always mean they are.

I was so freaked out that for weeks I slept on the couch in my living room with a butcher’s knife on the coffee table in case the guy came back again. If I had had a gun in my possession at the time, I would have answered with it in my hand.
