In the ongoing effort to get control of the citys streets, Mayor Lori Lightfoot staged a news conference last Friday that was meant to make a statement.
Standing on a platform in Olive Park, offset by a sapphire Lake Michigan on a topaz-sky day, the Magnificent Miles skyscrapers served as backdrop. Aldermen, clergy, federal and state law enforcement officials all stood as socially distanced props.
Lightfoot even invited Cook County States Attorney Kim Foxx to stand within shouting distance of her new police superintendent, David Brown. Days earlier, Foxx had called out Brown and Lightfoot for dishonest blame games, after they implied Foxxs lenient release policies were setting would-be looters loose on the streets.
During Foxxs turn at the microphone, a police helicopter made a showy swoop past the platform. Foxx needed to stop talking as the chopper blades drowned out her voice. Surely that wasnt part of the plan, right?
Lightfoots most consistent council irritants Ald. Ray Lopez, 15th, and Ald. Anthony Beale, 9th joined with Ald. Anthony Napolitano, 41st, and Ald. Leslie Hairston, 5th, to call for a special meeting Friday to discuss the looting and perhaps request the National Guard be called in. Lightfoot singled out Beale and Lopez for their grandstanding.

She’s making even Rahm Emanuel look pretty good.
Beetlejuice working its magic.
She let “demonstrators” run rampant through the city looting and vandalizing - until they came to her block. She banned them there. Used the Police on them.
Mayor Lightfoot and her wife will soon lit out.
If the Chicago Tribune turns against Lighthead, she is done. The Tribune has been her constant cheerleader - same with all of the Chicago TV and Radio stations. It will be interesting to see how all of these shills turn around and stop adoring Lighthead.
Mayor Lightfoot is light in the loafers............
She dug in. And she keeps on digging.
Ain’t gonna admit she’s wrong.
Ain’t gonna admit she sucks.
She’d rather all of Chicago go down than to admit that.
Pretty sick state of affairs.
I talked with a relative in New York City (an Obama voter), who said that everybody thinks that their “progressive” mayor DiBlasio sucks. It is a bi-partisan consensus, and a topic that be safely voiced, even in the midst of the current cancel culture.
The effects of their policies eventually outstrip the rhetoric, and they are shown to be as foolish as they are.
Hereafter known as Mayor NIMBY.
Home security for me, not for thee.
As if her outer ill-favored countenance is not enough, lightweight
lightfoot proudly demonstrates her unsightly inner ugly.
ugly to the bone
“Shed rather all of Chicago go down than to admit that.
Pretty sick state of affairs.”
What’s sicker is hoards of Chicagoans not protesting every day in front of her office demanding she resign.
They’ll re-elect her in a landslide, who are they kidding?
“Whats sicker is hoards of Chicagoans not protesting every day in front of her office demanding she resign.”
The ones who would protest her for incompetence left town years ago - they’re in Indiana, Wisconsin, Arizona, Florida or the ‘burbs. At this point, when the sycophant media uses the word “protester” they’re using it as a euphemism for “looter” - and with the cops around, there’s not much loot to be had on Groot’s block.
The Miracle Mile merchants are having their “teaching moment”.
The big city Chamber of Commerce types are very slow learners, but looters have a way of getting the message across—get the f&^% out of the city.
I hope she is stressed by the co sequences of her own stupidity. Even affirmative action has its limits.
Comrades, please don’t think for a minute that Mayor Lightfoot and her wife enjoy have 20 or 30 police officers guarding their home. Nothing could be further from the truth. Having that much police presence makes them both physically ill. But science has shown that safety for their home is vital for the mayor to be able to carry out her duties for the benefit of all Chicagoansthat and a nice haircut.
With apologies to Orwell and Animal Farm
The weakest Chicago mayor since Fartin’ Martin Kennelly.
