“Are they sick?”
Is that important?
YES
Being positive and not sick means nothing. Also, HOW MANY? 1? 100?
Well, actually it does.
As well know, most kids dont get sick from this.
I would guess that you and I have a ton of viruses and bacteria running through our systems every day. And, if we were tested for those things...we would test positive.
I dont want anyone getting sick. But no one is getting out of this life without being exposed.
From an academic point of view, I think its interesting to know if they are sick (symptomatic.). Does that make sense?
I’m from the area. If a child reports they are positive they tell that child’s entire class to stay home for two weeks. The media then counts all those kids as cases (quarantined), but only one kid was reported sick.
Um, like yeah.
Is that important?
Yes. It would be foolish to shut down the schools over a false positive test. In the long run it may turn out to be a very bad decision to effectively shut down the public school system to avoid a small risk for the students. Or it may turn out to be the cause of a sea change in how children are educated in America.
If students can't attend school in person anymore due to COVID-19 risks then everyone will be homeschooling across our entire nation. There will be no more public schools offering in person instruction. That's a big change for society.
