We say this every year. Our Pols suck.
It's because of the media. Most people (99%+) do NOT want to go through the crapstorm of a rectal probing nor do they wish to inflict that on their family and friends.
As a result, the best people stay quietly under the radar and away from politics.

Not to mention that there’s no money it. You have to be uber wealthy to become a pol in this country. Running just for Congress is a full time job. You can’t do it and support a family. You need to have sufficient wealth ahead of time. Or, not have anyone to support (i.e. AOC)
This limits the field by 90% I’d wager. And we’re left what we’re left with.
