I wish I had your optimism.
It is not optimism it is perspective.
Things “look” worse then they are because 1) it is happening now and 2) the news media is amplifying all the bad and none of the good.
I think when the silent majority have had enough this will all end.
If you want a model for what is going to happen to the cities I mentioned, look at Detroit post the 1967 riots. That city went from almost 2 million in population then to about 700,000 today. Think about what it means when a city loses the productive and wealthy half of its population.
Parts of the city have reverted to the original prairie, complete with paved streets and fire hydrants but no buildings or people.
My perspective on the decline of Detroit comes from living six miles from downtown from the 1950's until 2018. I saw the whole thing unfold over the last 50 years with my own eyes. The difference is that the Detroit riots were met early with US Army and National Guard. The riot was quelled in a few days because municipal, state, and national political leadership at the time would not put up with rioting, looting, and arson.
The situation today is entirely different. The political leadership of the cities I mentioned is FOR THE RIOTERS and AGAINST THE POLICE. The political leadership is poised to eliminate the one force that stands between civilization and anarchy. They allow and even give tacit approval to the looting and arson that continues every night for months. What do you think is going to happen?
I see no political opposition to the anarchists in the cities I mentioned, either at the municipal or state level. I see no institution willing to stand up to the rioters. This will accelerate the descent to mob rule. No one will invest or want to live in these cities. The devastation will last for decades.
