NEW JERSEY -- President Donald Trump's proposed $400 a week unemployment compensation to succeed the expired $600 a week benefit, with the state paying for a quarter of it, is "just not workable," New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy said Monday.
This a day after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called the executive order "impossible," "laughable" and "just a chapter in the book of Washington COVID mismanagement."
Murphy addressed the president's executive order, which was signed at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, over the weekend during a news conference on the coronavirus outbreak.
The problem with New Jersey picking up what could be a multi-hundred million dollar tab is the state faces its own budget woes, the governor said...

Well Phil you wanted to be Gov so make it work
Interesting the governors bitching about this, Newsome, Murphy and Cuomo are RATS.
Chuck and Nancy are on Vacation
Those governors from NY to CA have all the answers, don’t they? Are they going over their books right now to see where they wasted all the money their unemployed residents could have used during this time? Of course, they are - AREN’T!
They always think there will be more coming. From where? Uncle Sugar, I guess. Losers all!
Bingo. States don’t own a printing press.
I think I see a pattern, Democrat governors blocking receipt of free money. This will not sit well with the Democrats’ prime voting bloc.
Did Newsome get his talking points from Murphy?
To bad
In the states where I have had employees it was always the employers who paid into the unemployment fund.”
Here in Washington state my employees always paid into the unemployment funds.
Those funds belong to the employees. The governors in California and New Jersey must have stolen the money.
Interesting his this idiot and others like him (Coumo, Newsom etc) can always find money for illegals, to house them, to educate them and to provide medical care. BUT, they just can’t seem to find the funds to help out those that actually pay taxes in their state.
NJ, where property taxes on a $600k house can be $14,000 a year but the government provides little services.
So you'd like Washington to put the tax burden on S. Dakota and Ohio to pay for your inability to run your State..
I'd say it's your State...You created the mess it's in so you figure it out...You worried those people who voted you into office might just vote you back out???
REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER. VOTE RED, VOTE AGAINST EVERY DEMOCRAT ON THE BALLOT. TAKE OUR STATE BACK!
Sort of predictable. Blue states will do everything they can to harden their voters against Trump. Red states will take the $300.
In the election, the states will break the same as last time. Unless Joe manages to drool on his tie in the debates. At that point even Trump-haters will have to believe that he would be bad for the country.
If you and your wife move, don’t you relinquish any disability unemployment, until you apply in new state?
Or, does that automatically transfer to new state?
Where will you be moving to, in three weeks?
Best of luck and safe travels.
So true.
Well how about he opens the state back up and gets people back to work then.
Shes in the process of applying for SSI now because the state just wont pay out. Theyve told her 6 times they dont have the application that she and her doctor keep sending in. They told her to call numbers and use websites that dont work. When they finally do acknowledge receiving the paper work they tell her it needs to be updated and resent again, which leads to several more claims they didnt get it. We even reported 2 months ago the issues with the phone numbers not working to start an investigation, and they still dont work.
Its a nightmare.
Were moving to a cabin on 40 acres in rural Maine. Weve had enough.
