So how are those super duper strict gun “control” laws work’in out in DC ? What a joke. Guarantee when they arrest the shooters they will be well known by the police and have lots and lots of priors. How’s this for a law that will work: You use a gun in the commission of a crime, any crime, 1st offence you get life in prison, no parole and watch things change for the better pretty quickly.
When I lived in VA, we had such a law on the books (that REQUIRED a 10-20 year prison sentence, W/O parole/probation, at hard labor), which in the FEW cases where it was actually used, worked WELL to get VICIOUS PREDATORS off the street.
The REAL PROBLEM was that the “lily-livered” members of the prosecutor’s offices decided to NOT use that effective weapon against the VIOLENT CRIMINALS, as it was “believed by the leftists & ‘mass media types’ that using the law would “fall hardest upon people of color”.
(The other “problem” with using “THE BIG HAMMER” against the VIOLENT CRIMINALS was that it was believed that MOST of such cases would be those where both the victim & the predator were “persons of color”. - Sadly, many people really do NOT believe that “the poor”, “minority group members” & other “unfavored group persons” are NOT as valuable to society as “white people” are.)
The law was “allowed to expire” under the “sunset provisions”.
