I believe Trump really likes to have a live audience to listen to him.
I would be difficult to have him give a speech to 100 or so common folks in the White House.
Trump is the great innovator. When it becomes politically difficult to conduct huge rallies, he downsizes and still very effective.
I'm pretty sure that none of the people watching him at Bedminister would qualify as 'common folk'. I suspect they're all pretty wealthy otherwise they wouldn't be golfing or dining there.
Trump said in Ohio that he has made some powerful enemies and he may not be around for awhile. Then he went to Bedminster where he can isolate himself better. The Whitehouse is too accessible. There is a picture on Twitter of the Whitehouse staff coming out to wish him well before he left for Ohio. Trump may not be coming back for awhile. Big Pharma is really pizzed.
