Not only were antibody and pcr tests results being combined, but effective July 10, hospitals were supposed to start sending their data directly to the HHS (via TeleTracking software) instead of the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). The data was “inadvertently” doubled. Hospitals or State Health Departments from July 10 onward were reporting bed and ventilator counts for “Covid-19” stats to both TeleTracking AND NHSN. To my knowledge, this was never corrected in the records reporting cases. I know our local health department is still using stats from the CDC’s NHSN to calculate our cases. Presumably, our local hospitals and labs are reporting “covid” numbers to our State Health Department who then reports numbers to the TeleTracking system who I presume shares data with the NHSN so local health departments still use the data coming to NHSN via TeleTracking??? Our local health department hasn’t shared with the public as to why they’re still using data from the NHSN instead of TeleTracking.
Wow, is that ever messed up!
Its amazing that with all the sophisticated IT and Big Data systems that this could get so fouled up. And this is with literally DECADES to prepare for the next major pandemic.
Our Kootenai Health (Coeur dAlene, ID) had a big Q&A / FAQ in the local paper a few days ago. People were saying they had heard they would get more federal money for inflating COVID cases. Kootenai denied it vigorously, then a couple days later an article came out about how this bounty for COVID cases is real and really distorting the numbers nationwide.
