If you happen to be an aspiring domestic terrorist, particularly in or around Boston, with a hankering to blow up a marathon or some other large, public event, its been a pretty good week for you. First we learned that Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaevs death penalty sentence has been revoked. (At least temporarily.) And now we find out that the elite Boston Transit SWAT team that was widely celebrated for bringing Tsarnaev to justice has been unceremoniously disbanded. Officers assigned to the highly-trained unit were told to turn in their special equipment and return to more regular duty. (CBS Boston)
The highly trained Transit SWAT team that was once celebrated for capturing Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been dissolved.
Transit Police spend a lot of time training for anything that could happen. And in 2013, the unimaginable did
For a unit that was so highly trained and regarded, sources say the team is disappointed that it has been dissolved.
The I-Team reached out to the Transit Police and were told it had no comment on disbanding the unit.
The obvious question here would be why? The CBS News team who broke this story asked the Boston PD but received no comment. The closest they came was an observation made by some inside sources who said that the tactical team had not been used on calls much over the last few years.
Its hard not to wonder if the current climate of social unrest and riots isnt playing into this decision. Mayor Marty Walsh has been under a lot of pressure to defund the police and institute other sweeping reforms. One of the big complaints weve been hearing regularly out of Seattle and Portland is that the police are too militarized and they shouldnt be looking or acting like storm troopers. SWAT teams tend to go about their business while very well armed and armored. Was this some stealth maneuver intended to fend off that sort of criticism by making the transit cops look more warm and fuzzy?
people were forced into lockdown yet we were told it was wrong to lockdown looters and arsonists.
Where the definition of "captured" is:
searched every house and yard in Boston and then got a call from a guy whose property you supposedly searched twice, to say "oh you might have missed the trail of blood going to my boat, the open tarp and the noise coming from inside during your special ops tactical search procedures", so "maybe you should come back for the third time and shoot the sh*t out of my boat and still somehow miraculously manage not to hit the unarmed stoner inside it" so after all that you'll need to ask the teenager to get out of my boat. Or I could do it. Whatever's more special-ops-y for you.
I watched it happen on live streams. It happened. Often they ordered everybody out at gunpoint with their hands above their heads.
Good! All police depts should be
demilitarized.
GS’s AG already releases criminals,
and soon, she will be the latest “Dookhan of Boston.
I watched too,never saw that.
.
SWAT members should be like the National Guard. Properly trained and compensated, but called up as needed from the civilian ranks.
And while the SWAT guys and all the police were busy wandering around terrorizing the neighborhood they set up an outdoor press conference and had the Governor on live TV at night standing in the open. If they had been facing real terrorists they might well have ended up with the Governor getting shot on live TV. The stupid terrorist kid was within rifle range of the place the SWAT guys picked for the press conference, and had he been armed with a rifle and climbed up onto a roof top he probably could have shot up the press conference.
Luckily for us all he was hiding in a boat dying before the guy who found him ignored the government orders to stay inside and went out back for a smoke.
Good going Boston, turn over the death penalty on this scum THEN rid Boston of the LEO that caught them!!
See post 28 for some still photos of people being driven out of their houses at gunpoint.
Bad.
THEN rid Boston of the LEO that caught them!!
Good.
You missed the important point -- the terrorist was caught by a civilian who went out back for a smoke - against the order to stay inside. He called the police who even though they supposedly had searched his yard missed the kid in his boat.
When the SWAT team arrived there was nothing to do except grab a seriously wounded, unarmed teenager. There was a big show of "tactics" which were more like folly.
The LEOs were so "sophisticated" that they realized their helicopter image feed was not encrypted, and was being watched all over the internet so they had to pull that helicopter out of service.
The whole situation was chaotic, and without the civilian finding the terrorist he probably would have just died in the boat or escaped.
/bingo
Criminals, antifa, BLM thugs, terrorists and democrats want police de-funded, laws weakened, and populations intimidated...
I wonder what these groups have in common?
You mean this wanna-be?
They didn’t need SWAT to capture the bomber.
The daughter of a friend of mine saw someone sneaking across their backyard, then hiding under their boat; she told her father and her father called the cops who just arrived, walked up to the boat and told the bomber to come out with his hands raised. You don’t need a team with automatic weapons, helmets and tactical vests for that. Barney Fife could have apprehended him.
Bingo! Forgot all about that. The government loves cordoning off places and ordering everyone to get out of their way. remember in Katrina? Al those families were "trapped" in the stadium. A couple frat boys made fake press passes to get through the government cordon and drove right up to the stadium and gave a family a ride to Baton Rouge.
Insanity strikes beantown.
