Not a fan of the wokesters but why should I care that a private company is changing the name of one of its products (which I have never bought) because they believe the new name will attract more customers than the old name? Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. Either way, meh.
I agree with you. My reason for posting this story was not to cue the usual “what word will they ban next” discussion, but rather to point out something a bit more subtle (maybe too subtle) which is that the word said to be racist because it “was used” by “others” to describe Inuits. I suspected that something was hiding in the passive sense and sure enough when I checked it turns out to be a word that one group of Native Americans gave to another group of Native Americans.
