I’ve been a cop, and you are right, you don’t know who you are dealing with, what background you are innocently facing from day to day. Cops deal with the absolute dregs of society on a regular basis. They are commanded to play by hand-tying rules that the sociopathic criminals they deal with never have to obey. Tell me who usually wins in that scenario? Cops are due more than a little deference on judgement without questions.
