Silencers are easier to buy and build today, in the United States, than at any time in the last 80 years.

I remember back in the 80’s me and my friends (may or may not depending if the stature of limitations is up) have built a silencer out of a motorcycle muffler. If we had built such a device (wink), then my guess is it actually worked pretty well but was a bit impractical as there was now this bulky, heavy weight on the end of the gun barrel that tended to mess with aiming and sighting...

Use the ghetto silencer. An empty soda bottle.

I have multiple (legal) suppressors. I used to shoot 200-plus rounds per day, almost all of them silenced. These days, I’m down to 150 rounds per day (because of the ammo shortage), only 10-20 of them not .22 LR, but still almost all silenced. Almost the only things I don’t use a silencer on are revolvers and .380 auto (because the only reason for shooting .380 is that pistols are smaller than the silencer).

There is no valid law enforcement reason to ban/tax/restrict silencers. As I see it, it would be rude not to shoot with a silencer if it weren’t for our silly gun laws.

Since I’m so old that gunfire hurts my ears, outdoors I only shoot naked (meaning no ear protection) in a snowstorm...

Somebody was marketing some attachment (yeah, I know) a few years back that looked like it could very easily be converted into a silencer. I don’t remember if it was supposed to be for cleaning or zeroing or what.
