Again, to keep things in perspective, here is how Florida fares among the top four most populous states——

CALIFORNIA 502,000 total cases and 9,200 total deaths—population percent above age 65 equals 14.3%

TEXAS 443,000 total cases and 7,000 deaths-—population percent above age 65 equals 12.6%

FLORIDA 470,000 total cases and 6,800 deaths-—population percent above age 65 equals 20.5%

NEW YORK 444,000 total cases and 32,800 deaths-—population percent above age 65 equals 16.4%

It is pretty obvious that among the most populated states in the USA New York has had the worst record in managing the covid pandemic

It is pretty obvious that among the most populated states in the USA -- NEW YORK has had the worst record in managing the covid pandemic (I added New York caps as they deserve this recognition)
