When this began, I was designated shopper for myself and two others.
My mom, who’s in her 80s, terrified and cancer survivor.
My husband, who’s triple bypass, CHF, broken hip recovering and generally not doing so great.
I have my own “at risk” issues but somebody had to suck it up and go get food.
I have literally been out every day since this started, mostly with no mask, no hand sanitizing and no particularly concerned about how far apart I was.
And I’m fine, considering.
But my mom, ever-influenced by every new PANIC newscast, is now telling me I’m going to “get it”.
I think not.
Since the mandatory muzzle deal, though, I’m having flareups of my chronic bronchitis because I’m rebreathing all the time.
I too am the designated shopper for similar reasons. I got it. Thankfully, my husband didnt get it.
We tried food delivery service once. Didnt work out had to throw the food out.
I’m gonna get the “Karen treatment” but...
More important IMO than masking is sanitizing, or isolating your shoes.
Maybe there’s virus in the air that a mask may protect you from, but surely there is virus on the floor in that case.
You wouldn’t track mud into a house.
Gravity is the highest of Laws.
Take it as you wish, it’s meant with good intention.
Oh my Sal, so sorry to hear all the issues your family are going through.
I do wear masks inside almost always, mostly just to avoid being harassed. Around here we have lots of NAZIs, you know. I do much for my mom. Weve both had trouble having the mask on for long time, as in groceries.
But I can now report my nephew had COVID due to Ocean City, probably gave it to his wife and MIL. Wife wasnt tested but may have had it. Nephew had cold-like illness for few days. MIL got very stomach sick! But she is better now and never went to a hospital, BTW. Also my ex-SIL in CA had it, got over it. Probably got it from her son who wasnt tested but again had some cold-like illness.
So thats 3 definite cases which ultimately didnt result in much horror. Then theres my hubbys employee, who had cystic fibrosis. He is now resigned, because the outlook is terrible...he needs lung transplant, so afraid he is a goner. But CF is terrible, and they dont last long.
While I know some have had horrible outcomes, Im still not seeing the Black Plague. And I dont know how that compares to regular flus!
Give your mom a lift and let her know not nearly everyone gets it and dies, even my mom at 83 lots of COPD problems and breast cancer still goes out some with her mask and still hasnt gotten anything. I do worry more about her than me, but there you go so far.
