Last job I left they had to hire TWO young punks to replace me. So much for saving money.

I was essential until about six months ago when they started trying to get rid of older workers at least I’ve got the Union to back me up till I leave in about 6 months
For a good article on this read “ betrayed by work”.
Oh they love me when I was working hard and getting stuff done and just being really essential and really special for Year’s but not now. Now management is into saving their butts you know protect The Rice Bowl.
Time to go you essential wonder worker hahaha

I too was part of the "essential" team. There were sixteen of us who each have done two 4 hour shifts per week. The remainder of the time we were "work from home" employees. And work we did! I spent all day, each day (when not physically at the office for my shift) glued to my laptop, answering email and preparing documents. I spent more time working than I did when I was at the office for 8 to 9 hours a day.
Luckily for me, I had informed my boss eight months ago that I would be retiring effective August 1st. I had no idea what was coming for us during the Spring of 2020. Today was my last day at the office. I am officially retired!
