Moscow, Peking--The All-Union Radio Orchestra & Chorus (1950)
Russians and Chinese, brothers forever,
Strengthening the unity of peoples and races!
The simple man squares his shoulders,
With a song, the simple man walks.
Stalin and Mao listen to us.
Moscow, Peking! Moscow, Peking!
Go, go forward, people!
For shining labor, for lasting peace,
Under the flag of freedom!
I was hoping someone else would post Leonid and Friends version. Check out East River. Their latest release
I always thought that song was about a dog.
Lot’s going on,gotta run.Thank you Everyone for your help with the Troop Thread.
I’m hoping you were kidding.
I am just a poor boy though my story’s seldom told
I have squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles,
Such are promises, all lies and jest,
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest, hmmm
When I left my home and my family, I’s no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station, runnin’ scared, laying low,
Seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go,
Looking for the places only they would know.

Asking only workman’s wages, I come lookin’ for a job,
But I get no offers,
Just a come-on from the whores on 7th Avenue.
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there.

And I’m laying out my winter clothes and wishing I was gone,
Goin’ home
Where the New York City winters aren’t bleedin’ me, leadin’ me,
Goin’ home.
In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
‘Til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains.

S’Nami Boh!
Here is another version by a Rock and Roll Icon and a great Hammond B accompaniment by Georgie Fame:
I prefer the men’s version of that.
Smoke of a distant Fire by the Sanford Townsend Band.
This lyin’ and cryin’ is upsettin’ and gettin’ nowhere
It don’t stack up, so slack up, then pack up, I just don’t care
(Don’t let the screen door hit you) on your way out
Don’t you drown when your dreamboat runs onto the ground
Mr Shorty — Marty Robbins
Bible in a Year:
Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
In prayer, however, I was reminded that the class was a service that shined light on God. Because the Holy Spirit would use the class to point people to our heavenly Father, I could set aside my nervousness about public speaking. When Jesus taught His disciples in His Sermon on the Mount, He told them, You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house (Matthew 5:1415).
Reading those words, I finally sent out a class announcement on social media. Almost immediately, people started registeringexpressing gratitude and excitement. Seeing their reactions, I reflected more on Jesus teaching: Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven (v. 16).
With that perspective, I taught the class with joy. I pray that my simple deed becomes a beacon and encourages others to shine their light for God as well.
When have you felt nervous or self-conscious about sharing your deeds and gifts for God? How can your deeds and gifts help others, and what are ways you can share them?
Jesus, empower me to let my God-given light shine so others can see and glorify You.
