Trump has had to make it crystal clear that there is no other alternative. That’s why he has publically and officially stated that he wants the governors to ask for the NG. They refuse.
The problems is we depend on useless people like Barr and McConnell to do the right thing but they have been in D.C. so long that doing what is right is no long a concept that can even understand. Its all about their little sphere of influence and their own little kingdoms. McConnell lost me when we were in a big fight over the budget a few years ago (again we wanted to do the right thing) but McConnell stabbed us in the back and his response was that we needed to “get a bill”. That was the stupidest thing I had ever heard. He thought that a compromise resulting in passing a bad bill was better than holding out for what was right. As far as Barr goes the fact that he plays the bagpipes shows how full of nothing but hot air he is. If he are others like him ever did 10% of what they threaten to do we would sitting pretty now.
I wonder if the Boston tea party participants applied for a permit, just to be legal and all.

The Boston Tea Party, as far as I can surmise, involved the destruction of public and private property without due process. An application for permit would have been out of the question.
I do not hold animosity towards cops. All criminals are bad, only a few cops are, and unless the chief is corrupt, the bad cops are taken out, disciplined, or whatever needed. Good cops don’t want bad cops around.
Trump has demonstrated his wisdom and ability; he’s probably right not to react precipitously.
