I don’t know if I’m typical of American but I do,on occasion, regret things I’ve said.I even occasionally regret things I post here on FR.

Wait until you’re older. You will outgrow that.

I don’t think you are alone. I regret often enough things I write on FR.

But I also regret things I have said in person to people. I don’t try to be hostile or nasty, but I am opinionated and quick to boil. My temper really does boil over suddenly like some things do on the stove.

For me, it is a personal fault I battle in life. I always try to do better, and as I have aged...and I do. But I wish I had better control of my temper. As my anger level increases, my rationality seems to decrease by a commensurate amount.

I feel that literally sometimes I really do see red. I hate it, it is a lack of personal control that makes it difficult to navigate certain emotional battlefields in life.

It isn’t that I can’t keep my head in a crisis and think clearly, I can do that to a good degree. It is when I get angry.

I have taught myself on FR to work better at this, because tempers do flare here quite hotly.
