The two Minnesota Republicans voted for this. Tom Emmer, I thought you were better than that. Or were you afraid you would lose all your friends from your elementary school social circle? That does seem to be the Minnesota way. Minnesota is hopeless.

Fwiw, unlike you I am a native-born Southron from a large, extended & mixed-race family that sent 28 of our family’s boys & men off to war & all of whom “followed the Starry Cross flag”, to try to win INDEPENDENCE for our family, counties, states & the Southern Nation.
(Nine of the 28 returned from the war in May 1865. At least FIVE died in the DY’s Death Camps in MD, NY & IL.)
Like 90+% of Southern families, our family NEVER owned a single slave & certainly would not have fought for some RICH plantation aristocrat’s “right” to engage in the “flesh trade”; from the 1620s to now, our family has been farmers, stockmen, lumbermen and/or were in one of the trades/professions.
Otoh our family did all that our (often hungry, sometimes barefooted & in ragged clothes) soldier boys could to turn away the BLUE PLAGUE that flowed down from the North.
(Professor Grady McWhiney was correct when he said that those “Boys in tattered gray uniforms” were as tenacious as bulldogs & “resembled nothing quite so much as a pack of lean & hungry wolves, when attacking the enemy”; they were truly WARRIORS for their family, clan, & for the Southern Cause.
(A century of DY lies & political propaganda cannot change the TRUTH of the PURITY of our ancestors attempt to achieve LIBERTY for their homeland.)
A PERSONAL NOTE: Our family has had service-members in every US war since the 17th Century, including a US Marine & two Soldiers, who are OCONUS with the Forces right now.
