Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf should leave his job after his department deployed lawless mobs to contain protests in Portland, Ore., retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honore said.
“Police don’t do this. Watch this, what kind of b----t is this?!” Honore told MSNBC on Tuesday. He was responding to footage of federal agents assailing a man in the street. He added that Wolf needs "to be run out of Washington. He has no business in charge of Homeland Security."
His comments came amid a vigorous debate surrounding how authorities should deal with protests in the wake of George Floyd's death. Critics have alleged that DHS abused its power by using agents who utilized unmarked vehicles and failed to identify themselves.
“They are acting like an uncontrolled mob on the street with uniforms and badges that they don’t show,” Honore claimed.

While I empathize with the sentiment, the Dem pols reap what they sow (and, if you look at history e.g. Robespierre, the mob if let run wild will eventually turn on their former allies in power), I respectfully disagree.
The people causing the damage and rioting are by far in the minority. Most people are decent, hard working, love their families, and want to live in clean and safe environments. That is why they pay taxes; even just sales taxes. The POTUS needs to stand up for everyone’s civil rights when the Dem pols try to posture.
From a political view, he does have to be careful in how it is implemented. As someone else said, he can’t be goaded into a “Kent State” situation. But if he can make big arrests and bring crime levels back to pre-covid levels, it will be a political win too, not just a win for the people who are victimized by this very small minority of agitators and criminal gangs.

Actually the gray SUV just sat where it got parked. Guys in camo uniforms that said POLICE on the back in big letters, and with badges on their shoulders made the arrests. The one arrest I saw on video was not violent and not resisted.
Honore is a far-left Democrat. He’s part of the team decrying the FEDs showing the locals they could have easily ended violence in their cities.
The Deep State’s well of Never Trump retired Generals and Admirals is almost bottomless.
As long as they’re retired I can laugh at them. I’m retired military, too, fools. Nobody cares.
My worry is about the ones still on Active Duty.

Yep. People always want a villain, and Presidents are usually good candidates, but for career officers and bureaucrats self interest trumps ideology.

I remember him standing on the corner in NO acting like an ahole. Skin color is what it’s all about with him.
Years ago a four-star told me this story:
After he retired he saw a convoy going too fast. He pulled up next to the lead vehicle and made a motion to slow down. The driver looked at him and then flipped him “the bird”. He said he realized at that moment he was no longer a four-star general.
Since the retired general has the answers, let him implement them.
