“Wear masks for now. For real. They work, if people actually use them.”

For real what works is for you to stay 6 ft. away from me and me to stay 6 ft. away from you.

All wearing a mask does is forces me to touch my face dozens of times more than I would if not forced to wear one.

At the start we were told three things:
1. Social distance.
2. Don’t touch your face.
3. Wash your hands.

No mask: no reason to touch my face or even bring my disease-infected fingers anywhere NEAR my face.

Mask: Since I can’t wear for an extended period in this heat and humidity, it’s on-adjust-off-handle multiple times throughout a shopping run.

Which has increased my risk of Covid-19 exposure? Mask or no mask?

Obviously, even with proper social distancing, the mask has increased my risk. And I’m supposed to be okay with that, because my wearing a thin piece of cloth (we don’t hear about how only N95 masks can block the microscopic virus particles anymore, do we?) makes the Pandemic Panicked feel better.

All for show which would be benignly idiotic except for the Good Little Comrade Or Else sinister aspect of it.

Lets see:

The New England Journal of Medicine disagrees with you... they say that cloth face masks don’t prevent illness at all.
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2006372

Ben Swann does a compelling report on the litany of studies that actually measured whether masks prevented the spread of illness.

But, I could make lists and list of references to actual science, but then people go and just say anything without thinking. This is like saying communism works if people would just do it right. The facts just don’t support the wishful thinking.

I thought it was interesting when it was reported that a MIDDLE SCHOOL KID pulled that six-foot idea out of his ass. No scientist ever said that. So the whole country re-arranges their lives based on a child’s whim.

“At the start we were told three things: 1. Social distance. 2. Don’t touch your face. 3. Wash your hands.”

I think “don’t touch your face” (especially your mouth, nose, and eyes — ever), and “wash your hands” are the most important things with WuFlu, regular flu, common cold, etc.

A few years ago, after catching pneumonia at church, Hubby and I made a couple changes which sound weird, but we haven’t been sick since.

Hubby chewed his fingernails — fingers in his mouth. He stopped that.

For me, turning pages in the Bible involved licking my finger to quickly flip through the corners of the pages. I stopped that. (I’d never win a “Sword Drill” now, but that’s OK.)

We use hand sanitizer often, but not to an insane degree.

We haven’t been sick in years.
