Surgeon General Jerome Adams begged Fox News' audience on Monday to wear face masks to help contain the spread of the coronavirus and to avoid thinking of the health measure as a violation of their rights.
Adams stressed that President Donald Trump has recently said he supports mask-wearing, despite his refusal to implement a federal mask mandate.
"I'm pleading with your viewers, I'm begging you, please understand that we are not trying to take away your freedoms when we say wear a face covering," Adams said during a "Fox and Friends" interview.
He went on, "We are not trying to take away your ability to go out when we say keep restaurant capacity under 50%. We are saying if we do these things, we can actually open and stay open. We can get back to school, to worship, to jobs. We can do this."

The mere fact that he has to bring this up is proof positive that they DO want to take our freedoms away.

Masks work.... If you are robbing a liquor store. If you are trying not to inhale virons, they are as useless as a screen door on a submarine.
When you are wearing glasses, your glasses get fogged up. That means that particles as big as water vapor are escaping your mask and getting into the air. You are also inhaling whatever is in the air.
You are going to be exposed to this virus sooner or later. The mask may delay it but it won’t prevent it. Sooner or later everyone will be exposed. All this mask and social distancing nonsense is just going to prolong the inevitable... until after the election.

I have worn a mask outdoors, since February.
Every day. Everyone here wore one, every single day. For two months.
Every single day.
Now, there is ZERO coronavirus, here.

“In normal times we’d say that if it wasn’t shown statistically significant or the effective in real-world studies, we don’t recommend it,” he said. “But in the middle of a pandemic, we’re desperate. The thinking is that even if it cuts down transmission a little bit, it’s worth trying.”
On its own, this doesn’t seem like sufficient grounds to criminalize the failure to wear a mask in public. Also, it doesn’t weigh “cutting down transmission a little bit” against the potential hazards of mass mask mandates.
I’d like to be convinced that our decision makers have thought this through at least as well as I can after a few minutes in my pajamas in front of a computer screen.
