Then why didnt the Charleston batteries fire on the massive invasion armada that Lincoln sent to seize Charleston? They had fired on an invader before - namely, the star of the west. This time they opted to evict the squatters after the squatters turned their guns toward the city of Charleston.

Wrong, the ships were of little threat. Davis had decided that Sumter would not be resupplied by any means. As I said, it could have been girl scouts in canoes. Davis would have opened fire.
