The purpose of masks is to protect the wearer. That’s it. That has ALWAYS been it.
Until a bunch of LYING experts started telling us that it is “for everybody else”. That is what empowers the Karens.
If they could have used that excuse for seat belts, they would have. But that is more obvious bullchit.
Yes, but the masks do not protect the wearer unless they are n95, and even those may not.

Not true. When I was an EMT, I wore a mask when I picked up a heart attack patient. I didn’t wear it to keep from catching their heart attack.
I had to go into two hospitals yesterday. First hospital I wore my N95 mask. No problem. 2nd hospital refused my mask and gave me one of their cheaper ones. My N95 had the flapper exhaust valve. They said it was no longer approved at their hospitals.
I used to be a lab tech back in the day. In one of my jobs, we were experimenting with concocting a usable vaccine for young children, and naked mice were our subjects. They had no immune systems to speak of. When we got to the part where we were injecting them with the bacteria, we were in completely sterile rooms and were completely gowned, masked, and gloved in order to hopefully infect our mouse patients with the only thing we wanted them to be infected with, Haemophilus influenza type B, IIRC. Our masks and garb were worn to protect our patients from getting anything from us, not to protect us from them or the HiB.

DING! DING! DING! That is exactly right: the whole point of insisting that the mask is to protect others (as if were all running around with Ebola or something), is that it deprives people of the FREEDOM to CHOOSE what risks theyre willing to take.
And as long as they keep everyone wearing masks, they can continue to keep them terrified that COVID is everywhere. It is why you see morons driving in their car, alone, with a mask on, or morons in NYC (I saw them myself) bicycling and jogging on nearly empty streets and sidewalks, with no one coming close to within 6 of them, wearing masks. In my own neighborhood, Ive seen people sitting outside their houses, on 1/4 acre lots, with no one within 100 of them (even if they were directly in front of the house on the sidewalk), wearing masks. Idiots all. Terrified, mindless sheep.
WHERE did you come up with THAT idiotic idea?? Masks have always been "bifunctional". The doctors and nurses in an operating room certainly don't wear masks to protect themselves from the patient.
Masks are actually MORE effective at "carrier to victim" protection than the reverse, because the blocking action happens while the bioaerosols are largest, before evaporation reduces particle size.
