Nick Cannon on Wednesday apologized on Twitter for the "hurtful and divisive words" he said last month on his podcast "Cannon's Class," which resulted in his termination from ViacomCBS for "perpetuating anti-Semitism."
"First and foremost I extend my deepest and most sincere apologies to my Jewish sisters and brothers for the hurtful and divisive words that came out of my mouth during my interview with Richard Griffin," Cannon, the host of the popular MTV show "Wild 'N Out," tweeted late Wednesday evening.
"They reinforced the worst stereotypes of a proud and magnificent people and I feel ashamed of the uninformed and naïve place that these words came from," he added. "The video of this interview has since been removed."
Cannon recently agreed with former Public Enemy rapper Richard Griffin, known as Professor Griff, and his assertion that Jews are "wicked."
"I'm hated now because I told the truth," Griffin, who left Public Enemy in 1989 upon making the comment, told Cannon during the "Cannon's Class" podcast on June 30.
"You're speaking facts," Cannon said.
"Semitic people are Black people" Cannon, an African American, later added. "You can't be anti-Semitic when we are the Semitic people."

I used to like the guy, he seemed like a nice mellow person, now he looks like the sort of person who stands on the street corner cursing out passers by. What happened to him?

I got bad vibes from him. He came off as an angry black guy who was hiding his anger. He seemed fake to me. He was clearly hiding who is really is.

That **** must have been added to the AP stylebook, or whatever the controlling authority is. I see that all the time now. There was an article about Nashville hot chicken and it said, “The recipe was stolen by white restauranteurs from the originators in the Black community.” And then there was a “this day in history” about a clash between “whites” and “Blacks.” I guess the message is “Blacks are superior to whites and thus must be capitalized to denote said superiority.”
I lost all my respect for him and I really liked him before this.
If you heard one shallow meaningless PR/legal dept generated disingenuous apology, you heard em all. “I made some inappropriate remarks” “I should’ve chosen my words more carefully” “it was a crude attempt at humor” or my personal favorite “THIS ISN’T WHO I AM”. This shiite’s getting old.
This double-standard and the taboo about discussing it creates resentments that drive people into the arms of white nationalists and other serious racists. It is a threat to racial tolerance and integration. I highly recommend Carol Swain’s book “The New White Nationalism” for a detailed discussion of this. It covers this very issue.
If whites start seeing themselves as an identity group, I don’t know how we’ll back off that from that level of racial tension. I don’t want to live in an America where a white nationalist and a woke black person scream at each other on CNN every night.
While the racism of black people may not be as bad practically speaking, morally, it is the same, and deserves to be condemned whether it is against Jews or whites in general.
There is a virulently racist cult who call themselves the “Black Hebrews”.
They believe that the Jews who reside in Israel are imposters and that Blacks are the true Hebrews and Semites. They believe that Israel belongs to them.
When speaking of White people, they use the charming term “White Devil”.
They are extremely hateful and violently racist. The Government should list them as a Hate Group.
Right, that whole part is being ignored. I really thought he seemed like a nice guy. Too bad, I was wrong. Again.
