Massachusetts lawmakers seek to mandate masks, quarantine for out-of-state visitors

Face masks and two-week quarantines for travelers entering Massachusetts from COVID-19 hot spots would be required under a bill filed at the Statehouse on Tuesday.

The bill would also prioritize COVID-19 testing for vulnerable populations and mandate enforcement of workplace safety requirements designed to protect both workers and the public.

Both the face mask and quarantine requirements would be enforced with fines under the bill.

Republican Gov. Charlie Baker has already ordered the wearing of masks and has advised visitors to Massachusetts to quarantine for two weeks — except for a handful of nearby states.

One of the sponsors of the bill, state Sen. Harriet Chandler, D-Worcester, said with no vaccine yet available, the state needs to write the public health protocols into law.

“We have proven practices to curb the spread of viral infection: wearing face masks, ensuring widely available testing, finalizing formal workplace safety standards, and quarantining tourists coming from hotbed states,” Chandler said in a press release. “But they only work if we all participate.”

First they make us wear masks. Then we’ll have to wear pink panties on our heads. “

IF youre gonna try to mock you should confine yourself to building the mocking around points the person made. Making up shit is, well, making up shit. If you had an actual argument you’d have led with it. All you have here is unrelated mocking and an idea that a mask can’t hurt.

Why the hell would you want to give the government power that is not legitimate government power That sounds pretty dangerous to me.

In fact THAT is EXACTLY how certain people ended up wearing-not pink panties on their heads-but pink triangles and a multitude of other color coded signs and shapes to specifically identify them to their masters. (You know, their government).

And yet other people’s dumb-assed Doctor friends do it all the time. They’ve published these ideas. You could look them up but you have your mask talisman and you’re hanging on to it for dear life.

I count on others for information but I rely entirely upon myself for direction. When I actually see a need to do something or if I see a threat I react to it. NOTHING I have seen since february Warrents this idiotic hysteria.

20 years ago I worked in a very large monument shop. We cut stone all day. It was a modern shop with all the OSHA qualifications including a massive dust collector which maintained constant negative pressure in the building. This is so all airborne dust would infallibly be drawn into the dust collector. Infallibly. Not like the old days when a guy would retire then die of silicosis a year later.

In my time some 15 other guys worked there.

Guess how many of them took the time to inspect that dust collector during operation?

Guess how many of them beamed a powerful light thru the atmosphere under the very high ceiling at quitting time and again in the morning before work started to compare the results. (Trust me you’d be shocked)

Guess how many of them place a clean pane of glass on a bench at quitting time, to see what it collected during the night? As it happens it collected a very fine sheen of granite/free silica that made talcum powder look like boulders.

You can bet your damned ass I wore a mask while working in that building. I was the only one who did. The others joshed me and ribbed me and pointed out my humorous foibles to visitors.

I wore the mask past the point of pain and against the co worker tide because my intellihence said to do so.

In fact, watching the workers on the smoking pile that the twin towers were reduced to I noticed the men were taking off the masks that they’d started out with. They said the masks hurt and were slowing them down. Looking at my TV I shook my head sadly, truly sadly and said out loud “You guys are dead”.

I would end up putting the names, for some of them, on tombstones years later.

The mask your wearing is pointless. It is stupid. It would NOT stop, say, pneumonic plague. We’d have 20 30 40 50 million dead by now if we did in the case of pneumonic EXACTLY what we’ve done with Covid19.

Your whole argument, adolescent mocking aside, is eh...why not?

I do not do stupid things. I cannot be ordered to do stupid things.

I look after myself and take responsibility for myself. Once, in this apparantly God-damned country, it was actally considered intelligent and uniquely American and patriotic to do THAT.

Now its “wear the mask” because we the meek think you should. And yes I have actally seen wearing the mask called patriotic.
