Trump may intervene in case of St. Louis couple wielding guns at protesters, Missouri governor said

The governor of Missouri says President Trump has promised to "do everything he could within his powers" to shield a St. Louis couple who wielded guns at protesters in their gated community from prosecution, even as an attorney for the client says charges are imminent.

Gov. Mike Parson said he spoke to Trump Tuesday and was reassured that the president-- who previously has retweeted a photo of the couple, Mark and Patricia McCloskey holding up guns in front of their house in the June 28 incident--"understands the situation in Missouri."

"He understands the situation in St. Louis and how out of control it is for a prosecutor to let violent criminals off and not do their job and try to attack law-abiding citizens," Parson said at a press conference.

The couple's only means of protection was taken from them, armed black thugs appeared inside their gated community nearby the couple’s home (knowing now the couple is unarmed); you think President Trump is “interfering” in the Mo. Gov.’s preview.

Should a Trump just wait until the couple attempts to call 911 go unanswered, after being shot, maybe fatally?

It is not a "Trump or nothing" defense.

The couple can still obtain guns.

They can hire help.

They can accept volunteer help.

Lots of options. The Governor could even detail a couple of state troopers to stay at the couple's home (seems overkill).

Counter protests at the Prosecutor's home might be productive. Best if it can be a BLM protest...

President Trump can give moral support.

One of the most effective things the couple could do is set up multiple redundant surveillance cameras to record everything on their property. At the moment, the husband is doing a good job of showing the totalitarian nature of the left, and the political nature of this Soros backed prosecutor.

That is very important, overall. Probably more important than the house being attacked.

They should move all their portable, important private property to other locations, as a precaution.

You do know how long it takes to legally purchase a gun in MO, right?

You also know there’s a problem if you attempt to legally purchase a gun in MO if there is a prosecution against you for........using a weapon, right?

7 is exactly right. 18 USC 242. If that DA does anything to the couple, then arrest her.

Yes I do. Legally, it takes the time to find someone willing to sell you a gun, and then exchange the money.

50 people have offered to *give* an AR-type rifle to the McCloskys.

You also know there’s a problem if you attempt to legally purchase a gun in MO if there is a prosecution against you for........using a weapon, right?

Yes, I know that. Actually, it is a federal law for being under indictment for a felony. But no indictment has been released, yet.

It may be soon, but not yet.

The "under indictment" prohibition on gun possession is from Federal law. Missouri law does not prohibit someone who is under indictment from possessing a firearm.

There is a strong case the Federal "under indictment" prohibition is unconstitutional, as it is a prior restraint, before being convicted of any crime.

The Missouri prosecutor does not have the authority to prosecute federal crimes, as far as I can tell. It would be nice to have an attorney who practices in the field chime in on this.

Trump has no authority to intervene in those.

The feds intervene in state and local crimes all the time.

Take for instances all the police officers charged federally on a regular basis because the feds feel the state is not prosecuting them enough for civil rights violations.

A prosecutor is no different and subject to the same federal jurisdiction.

The second amendment is a constitutional right and the local prosecutor has no authority to ignore it. He is breaking the law.

The left has been hammering us for decades using civil rights as a method to attack the right. It time we give them a taste of their own BS.

“Trump could direct the DOJ to charge and arrest the circuit attorney, the judge and the police chief on denial of rights under color of law.”

Is our DOJ up to that task or is it sill full of swamp critters?

pretty clear to me where certain governors intend to take those that have the nerve to exercise their God granted rights to self-defense

Take for instances all the police officers charged federally on a regular basis because the feds feel the state is not prosecuting them enough for civil rights violations.

In that case they charge them with federal crimes. They don't interfere with whatever state charges involved. Are you suggesting there is a federal crime they should be charged with?

A prosecutor is no different and subject to the same federal jurisdiction.

No. State prosecutors charge for state crimes. Federal prosecutors charge for federal crimes. One does not have control over the other.

The second amendment is a constitutional right and the local prosecutor has no authority to ignore it. He is breaking the law.

This is not a Second Amendment question. The McCloskey's have not been charged with a crime as yet but say, for the sake of argument, they're charged with unlawful use of a weapon. That's a felony punishable by up to four years in state prison and a fine. Where does the 2nd Amendment play into that and how can Trump intervene in a local felony arrest?

I’ve been trying to tell people this for years, they don’t listen.

This DA is clear and deliberately violating the civil rights of that couple for the benefit of BLM and rioters. Trump can literally prosecute her for violating their civil rights.

Do this two or three times and those Soros-backed DAs will fold like a cheap card table. Mebbe even once would do the trick. These posers are gutless.

Where does the 2nd Amendment play into that and how can Trump intervene in a local felony arrest?

Its called deprivation of rights under color of authority. The home owners had every right under the second amendment to possess and use their firearms to protect them selves.

The prosecutor is violating those rights by prosecuting them for exorcising those rights.

Its no different than a state passing a law impeding peoples right to vote.

All I am saying is that the 2nd amendment is just as much a civil right as all the other ones. Just because the DOJ has never focused on or enforced its provisions does not mean they can't.
