My brother (who lives in LA) told me that one third of the LAUSD issued laptops have never been logged in. Thus, the students aren’t even bothering to try “distance learning.”

Thanks for the info...I have been skeptical of “distance learning” in grades K through 12...Many of the students simply are not disciplined enough to do work when there is no teacher near them...That is something that teachers’ union does not like to talk about...

My wife is a LAUSD teacher and teaches kindergarten...she says that for kindergartners, the kids just don’t have the patience to sit in front of a computer screen to learn different subjects during remote learning. Some of the kids end up running around, taking their clothes off, etc. They really need to be present with a teacher in a classroom environment.
