I wrote my school board last night and begged them to open the schools. They likely won’t (will decide today) and will likely offer only 100% “distance learning” which I’ve already been to last Spring and means posting one assignment a week, no tests and not grades and no teaching. FOR HIGH SCHOOL.

I feel like those nations in Africa that struggle to get their girls education. I can’t believe the United States has fallen this far.

I will write Betsy Devos today and President Trump and beg for an Executive Order that requires/encourages the reopening of schools as he did for the meat packing plants. Surely the education of children in the US are as important as eating pork chops.

Europe and Asia reopened schools successfully—why wouldn’t the US? Do we value our children so little?

I’ve already moved my teen girl to a private small Christian school nearby, but I care about other children more than my own.

Think of it—now millions of LA children will be roaming the streets this next year or playing video games. I read 40% don’t have wifi to even do “distance learning” and teachers put some videos on PBS last Spring.

It’s awful.

Barbara Ferrer gets paid nearly $500,000 a year. She is a social worker and not a medical doctor.

Exactly! They Would only need a couple of instructors per grade making assignments and tests, a few IT people to to write the programs to grade the tests and hell you could save money having Grad students many computer chat and phone help lines for students.

Not only could you eliminate the majority of socialists, sorry teachers, but also administration staff, janitorial, food service and maintenance!

Okay, I'm all for this now that I think about it. It would mean less daily indoctrination of children by socialists, racists and sexual deviants along with humongous savings to the taxpayer in wages and CALPERS funding. It would be so much winning it would make peoples heads spin..........well except for a few entitled groups.

Thanks for reminding me about that...

No public official seems to be willing to challenge her ideas...Politicians are afraid to be seen as questioning the opinions of some “expert” like Director Ferrer...

I feel frustrated by the fact many politicians are happy to go along with her ideas...How about a some debate?

My wife is a LAUSD teacher and teaches kindergarten...she says that for kindergartners, the kids just don’t have the patience to sit in front of a computer screen to learn different subjects during remote learning.

Thanks for the info...

I had a feeling that remote learning will not work for kindergarten students...

If there was any science to those statements, the K-12 schools in Sweden would have been closed instead of never closing.

Thanks for reminding me about Sweden...

I don’t know if the Superintendent even studied what happened in Sweden...
In any case, I think he is worried about the teacher’s union...

I think there are many fine teachers...
But, unions...A different story...I don’t like the leadership...
