[When a new arena was built in Newark NJ to edge out the Meadowland arena, a concertgoer was attacked (nothing life-threatening) and the story was buried - because they couldnt let the truth get out that Newark is a dangerous place. There is no real parking at the location, but deals were made with companies in the area to use their lots at night. The problem was that you were exposed waiting for shuttles on corners several blocks from the relative safety of the arena itself; locals all knew better, and the place never attracted the anticipated crowds.]
They do that for the NJ Performing Arts Center; there is basically a wall of cops from Route 280 to the venue - and you shouldn’t stray from the path.
