When was the last time you read the Declaration of Independence? REALLY READ IT. Have you tried to understand what our founders thought about how a government should be empowered? Its an incredible document when talking about freedom. Its a nasty letter when talking about the King of England.
It starts off by saying that the government serves at the will of the people not the other way around:
When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Natures God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

In other words, the Government is not empowered to take away our rights
I believe we have a “right” to work or a “right” to assemble.
One of our favorite things to do when we lived in Baltimore was to visit Fort McHenry on July 4th where the park service rangers dressed in War of 1812 attire would pass out copies of the Declaration and members of the audience would take turns reading the lines and everyone would read the final lines together. Nearby, you could take a whack at an effigy of George III with a broom.
