I imagine, just like when HD first arrived that there are not too many 4k channels available at the moment..

Actually, there are still not many 4K channels, but the box puts out a 4K signal and the TV displays it. The TV will upscale the picture.

I do get 4K on Netflix, but I had to subscribe to 4K to get it, and stream it through a Roku Ultra box to the TV via the HDMI switch. My TV is a 2014 Samsung, so I think the newer TVs have these port inconsistencies figured out by now.

One thing I never got to use was the 3D glasses that came with the TV.
