KIds are doing what kids have done since forever. Youthful defiance of authority is what this is.
They have little risk of any serious consequences and they can show off as being “bad” meaning in this case tough and courageous even as we look at them as foolish..
This is something I would have done in my youth, a youth filled with bad decisions that I survived and actually learned from.
"What are you rebelling against, Johnny?"
