“Fauci declined to estimate potential COVID-19 deaths when pressed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.)”
Yes, because the deaths are what matter for comparison.
Testing so many leads to a large number of positive tests - all called cases.
But we know that the vast majority who get infected don’t get sick or have no serious illness.
So widespread testing is causing more cases.
Everyone knows this but it is never even mentioned by Fauci or in articles like this.
And, yesterday what state still had the most deaths?
New York.
Worldometer showed California with the highest death rate yesterday (41). New York only had 12.
I disagree widespread testing is causing more cases. I believe the testing is identifying more cases. Also, public health officials in Florida and Texas have stated the lack of social distancing, lack of hand washing, touching the face and lack of wearing mask indoors by mainly the younger population has caused the infection rate to rise. There is no disputing that with the health officials.
I do agree with you that deaths rates have gone down thanks to a number of things we are doing well. I hope they stay down through this spike.
California, actually. New York was 9th.

A today isn't looking good for them making a comeback either:
Maybe Cuomo finally stopped tossing sick people into nursing homes.
