“HOAs are communism.”
My wife says you don’t know what you are talking about.
Most HOA's display the contract that the homeowner freely and willfully signed that clearly spelled out the rules he would abide by.
Don't like HOA rules? Don't live in a deed-restricted community.
It's that simple.
Yeah I picked up on that too. This guys been partially cowed even though he doesn't know it.
Ayn Rand reminds us: in any compromise between food and poison, death wins.
Yeah? So?
Where in the HOA bylaws does it say if ONE person complains, you must comply? Is there a list of approved flags? Is it up to date? Who approved the flags? Is there a published list of non-approved flags?
If I complain about someone's rainbow flag, are you gonna make them take it down? I kinda' doubt it...
“I see you met Cynthia.”
“Never, ever buy a house subject to a homeowners association, EVER.”
ROTFLMAO!
If the HOA also prohibits (B)elligerent (L)oud (M)orons flags, the the HOA has a point. If they don’t and enforce the “rules” unequally, then the homeowner has a point. If you don’t like HOAs (and as a current board VP I do less and less) then don’t buy a house in one.
What is so funny?
“HOAs need to be banned.”
ROTFLMAO!
You want. to pass laws infringing on my rights!
Sorry bud, this is not Venezuela.
And here in FL most HOA board members are snowbirds, not many around this time of year. Just a bunch of Karens with a Napoleon complex. And you get the “privilege” of paying hundreds in dues. Just a glorified protection racket. This is why when we were House hunting we told OUR agent in no uncertain terms NO HOAs!
“What is so funny?”
A really stupid post!
It's simple. I like my house to increase in value. I've lived in two HOA communities and both homes have done exactly that. I like yards to look nice. I don't want to live next to flophouses with 20 non-related people living there. I don't want to live next to yards that have rusty vehicles on cinderblocks in the front yard and oily transmissions laying on the porch.
I like nice neighborhoods where people take care of their homes.
HOAs are ENTIRELY VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATIONS. If people don't like them, they have the total and complete freedom to not live under one. But if they freely choose instead to sign the agreements of the HOA, they need to abide by the rules.
I never undertand these stories, usually about a flag that's in violation, but really about a homeowner who says, "I'm more special than everyone else."
Yep....see post #14

You don’t know what you are talking about.
Pasco county went 59-37 Trump and we have lots of gated communities.
The very concept is disgusting.
At my last house, I got a phone call one day from some lady who wanted to start a HOA and asked me to be on the board.
She actually got mad at me when I gave her a pretty hard No.
Excellent reason not live in a HOA or restricted development. But if I did move into one I would expect the rules to unforced so that the Rainbow flag would be take down as well.
It sounds whiny to move into the place and then cry foul when you cant have your way. Same for boats and RVs. If it is important to park your land yacht in your driveway move somewhere it isnt zoned out.
Seven yrs ago the Board at my South Fla condo building made the mistake of not paying attention to the ballot. I got the last of 7 spots. I spent the next yr watching them steal and torture people. The next yr I got a slaye together & kicked them out.We are a happy lot today

You should work on your manners.
Never, ever live in a home that falls under an HOA.
