[[The last time I used Gab I lost interest. Full of mindless garbage.]
So basically a twitter clone then?
It is still out there, as defiant as ever. Gab is more like fakebook. I am just glad to see movement off of the monopoly platforms. Hopefully, it will snowball.
“Parler Hits Number 1 News App On the Apple App Store”
To be banned in 3, 2, 1...
“The last time I used Gab I lost interest. Full of mindless garbage.”
Same here. How many times can you read an angry 16 year old call someone a jew??
The thing I like about Gab is the Dissenter commenting platform. You can comment on web content and avoid the publisher’s censors. That must be considered a real threat, because it took no time at all for the apps and browser extensions to be banned.
The New York centric media needs to be regarded as enemy soldiers.
You read “the Bulwark”? That explains a lot.
I had trouble signing on.
“Wait until the media start pointing out some of the Jew-hating and racist posts and asking Republican politicians why they want to join that site.”
And the media would otherwise be civil toward him? Really? The only censoring that would make them happy is the kind they already do on twitter. Don’t play their game. The fact that this guy wrote this means they see it is as a threat. We need to support it.
When I see here that Trump has a Parler account, I’ll get one too. If he’s going to leave Twitter in the dust, we’ll want the media optics of a massive following coming with him.
It was a better world when every city had two newspapers, one being more liberal than the other, than just having one common source of news that tries to appeal across the whole political spectrum, it just doesn’t work.
Ditto for Social Media, have a Social Media channel that is more liberal than the other, and one that is explicitly more conservative. There can be some debate, but it has to be within reasonable limits, that stay aligned with the political orientation of the board. Hopefully that is the role that Parler can fulfill, but even so, there still has to be some kind of moderation, to avoid being infiltrated by extremists, which of course, in more cases, are just trolls.
Google and Apple conspired to kill it by both removing it from their app stores at the same time.
I just knocked it out, pretty easy - are you on WiFi?
“How many times can you read an angry 16 year old call someone a jew??”
About as many times as I can read someone call for a 16 year old to be punched for wearing MAGA hat.
Not generally but I saw a link to this article.
It's exactly what I've been telling you happens with unmoderated sites.
Do you think they faked those Parler posts?
Looks like what rolls in the comments section on Youtube (Google) every second of every day. Free speech doesn’t mean just the crap you like to hear.
Who cares what the media highlights? That article you posted could be written about twitter. You can find even more vile leftists. They just don't recognize it as vile. The media is ALWAYS going to try to get conservatives to play on THEIR playground.
“there still has to be some kind of moderation”
Did twitter ever take down those tweets calling for Covington kids to be beaten, doxxed, and their lives ruined? How about the one who was going to give a BJ to whoever did that? Are those all in “reasonable limits”?
Probably not. But they probably signed up with fake accounts and created those parler posts. Some leftist did. Even racists aren't idiots.
That’s why I say, they can position themselves as the “Liberal” Forum, while Parler will be the “Conservative” forum.
At least people will have a choice.
