With all due respect, your post #5 is off-base. mumblypeg Is correct. Yes, FDR was far from perfect. But if you can find reasons to deface his monument, then you are morally equivalent to those folks who are finding reasons to deface those other monuments. Upon reconsideration, I hope you can see that.

Liberals who don’t like Robert E. Lee, Thomas Jefferson, etc. should simply not visit their statues. Look the other way. I would think that advice should hold with FDR too.

Break up his monument and install a public toilet.

I agree generally.

BUT, would you honestly say this in Iraq with SoDamn Insane? Were those people bad in tearing it down? How about various communist leaders around the world and their statues?

But absolutely, there is no reason to wantonly deface and destroy lawfully placed statues IN THIS COUNTRY. This country does not deserve such treatment.
at the very least, FDR seemed to love this country, if only being very wrong. These days, I do not for one second believe liberals love this country, rather hate it.
