I joined my Guild in 1997 and became an “Upper Freeman,” and eventually was awarded my Livery, and was elected as Assistant to the Court.
The guy in charge of my London-based Guild is the Master of the Honourable Company of Air Pilots.
“Master” traces itself back to around the year 1,000 and is a reflection of skill (Master of the trade).
