Atlanta (CNN)Hours after a fired police officer was charged with felony murder for fatally shooting a man in the back, Atlanta police officers are not responding to calls in three of the department's six zones, multiple sources within the Atlanta Police Department told CNN on Wednesday evening. Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard earlier in the day announced 11 charges against Garrett Rolfe, who was fired after he shot Rayshard Brooks twice in the back on Friday night. A third shot hit a car with three people inside.
The police department said an unusual number of officers working the late shift had called out sick. The mayor said the city would be OK. "There's a lot happening in our cities and our police officers are receiving the brunt of it, quite frankly," Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms told CNN's Chris Cuomo. She said the city has committed to the officers through a big pay raise, and "we expect that our officers will keep their commitment to our communities."
She said she thinks morale is down tenfold.

If only they had trading from the Joe Biden Knee Shooting School.
“This cop is going to walk and never should have been charged to begin with.”
His attorney has probably advised him of that, and also to expect “back pay”.
The community broke its commitment to the Police a long time ago.
Mayor’s Training video: This is how they want the police to act.

Maybe they deliberately over charged him, so he would walk, so they can have more riots.
A political version of the PHB.
Treat people below as trash but expect them to save their hide when things go wrong.
In my sons small department the chief has passed the word, if any councilman or the mayor starts this defund nonsense they are all calling in sick. Cops have had enough.
Yep. Right outta the Babylon Bee.
How about members of the community (whatever that is) start turning in the perps who walk among them, sleep on their couches, whatever.
Asking them to honor their “commitment”.....really?
What about YOUR commitment to them, BottomsIdiot?
Personally, if I was apart of them, I’d tell you personally to ‘F’ off......
I hope they dont cave. They definitely have the mayor shook.”
I don’t see how the CAN cave. After haveing the range of responses to violence against themselves severely curtailed any cop at any time can end up on charges for anything that flows from having lost control of an arrest situation.
The deck is stacked against them and a howling mob that hates them is literally in full control.
A friend of mine who works on the Boston PD says morale is abysmmal and there has been an unofficial “strike” going for a couple weeks now in large cities across the country. Officers are simply refusing to respond to calls anymore saying they are too busy, they go on duty, go park somewhere out of the way and do nothing for their entire shift.
My God. I can imagine a host of Freepers logging in and reading this for the first time like I did, had that exact same word salad containing the words “Kiss” and “Ass”.
My thought was the arrogance and dastardly insolence.
If it weren’t true, one might think them incapable of such a statement. Even they couldn’t go that low.
But every time you think they cannot go that low, they descend further.
Are they getting anyones attention? I hope so.

It's not enough money to do that job. It's not nearly enough money to do that job.
Even the police chief saying that the man was asleep in his car at a Wendys leaves out the important part that he was in the drive-thru line, this blocking anyone else from driving through. Its too bad that he hadnt pulled into a parking space and gone to sleep.
I just listened to the Atlanta zone 6 police radio this morning. Not a word spoken - just static for minutes on end.
Yep - told her to fulfil her commitment and defend those who risk it all for the ingrates who want to eradicate them.
