“So what? He was just a drunk. Arrest him tomorrow.”
Right there, you’ve lost any semblance of reasonableness.
Just arrest the drunk behind the wheel tomorrow?
You clearly have never lost anyone to DUI, or have never witnessed the horrific scene of a DUI accident.
Leaving a drunk driver alone, to wake up who knows when and drive anywhere so that you can “arrest him tomorrow” is brainless.
Every day, almost 30 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes that’s one person every 50 minutes.
*************
In this case, as I have pointed out, the cops have the guy’s car, he is on foot, he’s not going to crash into anyone, and doesn’t deserve the death penalty.
He was at that time a felon suspect based on resisting arrest and two counts of assault on a police officer. Ah, why bother, we can get you tomorrow. That does make sense to let felons run off.
THAT, is your EXACTE statement that I quoted.
Your a fool, and a dangerous one at that, if you believe drunk drivers should be left alone ... behind the wheel ... in a public place accessed by public roads.
A person, every 50 minutes dies due to DUI's.
And according to you, no biggie. It's so much a no big deal that they should be left alone and dealt with the next day. That's what YOU said by that very statement. How many would it take before you think it warrants police intervention? One person being killed every 30 minutes? Every 10 minutes?
Totally reckless. Your a clear and present danger to society if you think that way.
Except now you have a violent guy on drugs, who just assaulted 2 cops and in possession of a taser. Sure let him go off on foot and tase the crap out anybody.
Actions have consequences and that should be known. You assault a cop, it may cost your life.
