The consequences of being part of the 13% of the population that commits 70% of the violent crimes is that police are reluctant to interact with any African American because they might be “one of those” and police would end up dead.
My 15 year old daughter tried to tell me that the reason 70% of the crimes is done by the 13% black population is due to over policing and systemic racism.
I just shook my head, chuckled a little, told her there is no such thing as “systemic racism” - unless the system specifically says “humans can’t do this”, etc., she’s confusing race with ethnicity. However, there is also no such thing as “systemic” ethnicity in the US anymore - based on the many laws passed by Republicans over the last 165 or so years, that the Democrats fought against - until LBJ decided to create the “Great Society” and get the black vote for the next 200 years by giving black people, and only black people, “free” things. That’s actual systemic ethnic bias, because it’s exclusionary - then told her that her view is based on what she’s learned from YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok, and 15 years - my view is based on travelling the world, being 50+ years old, a US Navy veteran, and actual life experience. I think she thinks I’m a facist. If only her mother were alive to hear her now.

They need to watch this Richard Pryor classic, he once felt the same way, too....and then he actually went to a penitentiary...
