It’s hard to imagine why a good cop would stick around in such an environment, risking every day not just life and limb, but also livelihood and reputation, serving people who hate him.

Eventually, all that will remain will be corrupt, politically correct, do-nothing bureaucrats, and a handful of mad dogs trained to maul only those out of favor with their masters. The Left actively creates the “fascist” police forces they claim to loathe.

Frank Serpico could not be reached for comment. Would love to get his take on all this.

And they probably vote overwhelmingly for Democrats in every election.

People are slow to change.
There are people here at this site who live in/near NYC and decry constantly the rot and cancer of the place.
Why don’t they leave?

It’s hard to pack up and leave a place where you’ve spent your whole life. Believe me, I know.
The place where your best memories are.
The place of childhood friendships, first crushes, first kisses.
Where you met your spouse, got married, raised children. Attended family reunions, relatives birthdays, weddings, funerals.
Then there are the financial reasons like jobs, the homes that have to be sold, etc.

Then people like cops are probably more hardwired to the places they live. They have made the extra commitment of being what they perceive as the guardians of the city.
Kinda hard to walk away from all that.

Great. Let them defund the police department. The backers of that idea will get what they deserve - major companies abandoning NYC in droves.

“Kinda hard to walk away from all that.”

I’ve talked to people who managed to escape the Holocaust, with similar accounts about the loved ones who refused to leave with them. It’s hard to leave home, but you have to recognize when home is no longer there.

If NYC keeps it up, it will look very much like it did in Escape From New York. There will be nothing but criminals and those that didn’t escape in time before the wall went up.

True.
It usually sneaks up on us quietly over a period of time so we don’t realize the changes until its too late. Like slowly raising the temperature in the pot until it’s boiling and the frog is cooked and doesn’t realize it.

If it ever comes down to a vote, it seems that the police themselves & the general population should be the ones getting the vote. The governing group works for the people, don’t they? Oh, yeah...I forgot that we’re talking NYC here.

I think a 1 week “Blue Flu” will change a lot of minds...

Especially DiBlasio’s security detail.
