I think it is awful that police in general are being smeared by one cops actions. That does not excuse the actions of the one individual. The media is public enemy #1

Law Enforcement only works with the consent of the citizens and only when the public trust exists. There does not exist sufficient quantity of Law Enforcement to battle insurrection. Besides so many Law Enforcement Professionals are ALSO Reserve and National guard anyway. So when and IF the National Guard and RESERVE forces are mobilized by the President under the insurrection act the total available “forces” available as civilian law enforcement is severely depleted —. On a positive note many of those vacancies occur because those Law Endorsement Officers hang up their civilian law enforcement uniform and their “rank” in their agency does not cross over to their rank/position in the National Guard and Reserve. Interesting side note. Some very high ranking National Guard/Reserve military persons happen to be patrol officers (relatively LOW rank but make up the FRONT LINE in their full time job).

Likewise some very high ranking leadership in civilian law enforcement are (relatively speaking very low rank FRONT LINE in their part time job as a reserve or national guard soldier). Food for thought

Beautiful article that actually brought a tear to my eye. Our younger son has a close friend who is a police officer and has always been our “third son.” Our older son, his brother-in-law is a state trooper. Both are deserving of great respect, not the cruelty the Left has put them through.

There are already numerous private security forms, that will respond to an alarm from your home security system. I can see their role greatly expanding as people seek protection, and there will plenty of former police officers who will be looking for work.

A bit dramatic. He is wrong. America did not do it, and has not done it. It is being done by the democrats.

If the democrats do succeed in taking over, they will enforce their laws with fury.

It’s an epic rant and a heartfelt statement, but I fundamentally disagree with this guy — and many others — on a very important point.

This idea that Americans have come to take for granted — that we need police officers “to serve and protect” us — has no place in a free nation. This country was built by people who were perfect capable of PROTECTING THEMSELVES.

The purpose of “law enforcement” isn’t to protect the citizens at large. It’s to ensure that accused criminals are apprehended and protected so they can be subject to legitimate trials instead of hunted down and given “justice” by armed vigilantes.

We — including conservatives — have forgotten this fundamental aspect of the U.S. legal system over the years. As a result, we no longer think of the police as law enforcement officers and instead see them as nothing more than armed security guards doing a job that we are too lazy and irresponsible to do ourselves.

The cost of the malpractice insurance would be covered by the police department. The police unions will insist on that in their contract negotiations.

The police can’t save US, crisis pushed by societal changes. “While Chicago was roiled by another day of protests and looting in the wake of George Floyd’s murder, 18 people were killed Sunday, May 31, making it the single most violent day in Chicago in six decades, according to the University of Chicago Crime Lab. “

It would also give insurance companies a lot of influence in how police departments operate ... which would probably be a GOOD thing.

And you’re already paying for it anyway. It’s just coming out of your pocket in a different way.

Me thinks you are the one with rose colored glasses..The gangs are in many cases better armed with the latest technology, many groups peddling drugs are really paramilitary in many respects..

Yawn... game is changing, nothing more than a foot stomping rant.. welcome to the information age...

If police were not unionized, Democrat voting , overpaid, abusing the public tax dollars... then there might be some sympathy

The security of you and your family is your responsibility... not some union member, employed by the government.

The Second Amendment is there for a reason.. if free citizens could carry anywhere in the Country, would 911 have happened?

Brick and mortar colleges are the next gate keepers to fall..

They are just going to hire all-black police forces; in many northeastern cities, police jobs already have a lot of set-aside positions for tokens.

The pressure to do this has already been brought up in terms of teaching jobs in cities; it isn’t new. The idea is that the gubmint workers should look like the neighborhoods - though of course the neighborhoods aren’t expected to pay those same gubmint workers...
