Watch it there, FRiend. My all time favorite car was a 242GT that I owned from 79-85. I loved that car, best cruising speed was 90 MPH, and I think the fastest I drove it was 115...that was in Germany on the autobahns. Handled like a dream, especially on the back roads.
I'll never forget driving from Kaiserslautern to Spangdahlem AB in 55 minutes, a distance of 90 miles, of which only 40 miles was autobahn. One of my passengers was a Major new to the country, the other was my replacement who had made a few trips with me. I'd been in Germany for over 4 years, and no one in my battalion knew the area of operations like I did.
We had just left a meeting at Group HQ that ran late. The major looked at his watch, and said "damn, my wife's got big plans for 6, I'm in trouble." It was 5, and I laughed and said, "I'll have you home by 6." We pulled into Spangdahlem at 5:55.
I loved that car.
