Former Secretary of State and retired four-star General Colin Powell on Sunday announced his intent to vote for former Vice President Joe Biden in November. According to Powell, President Donald Trump's actions throughout the George Floyd protests reinforced his support for Biden.

Powell didn't have anything against McCain or Romney, but he wanted to vote for an African-American, and he figured Obama was close enough to an Establishment guy to pass muster.

It is rare for Republicans to criticize Trump directly, and more so for members of the military establishment, who typically stay out of politics...
Many of the Republicans now criticizing Trump also did not vote for him in 2016...
The public denunciations from figures including Powell and Murkowski could sway more Republicans, (Mark Sanford, the former Republican South Carolina governor) said.
“When these dominoes start to fall, they can fall a lot faster than people think,” he said.

Colon Powell, Jim Mattis and John Kelly prove that for as bad as civilian leadership in government can be, retired generals are worse. I never want to see a retired general in a cabinet position again, let alone as President.
He supported Obama twice, over McCain and Romney. They fail to mention that.

Do we know that Colin Powell ever voted for a Republican for President? Even though George W. Bush hinted strongly in 2000 that he would name Powell as Secretary of State, during the Florida recount Powell dropped hints that he would be happy to be part of a Gore administration. And of course he kept quiet while Patrick Fitzgerald was putting Scooter Libby through the ringer.
I expected nothing different. Had he endorsed PDJT I would surely have wondered why.
