Drew Brees addressed President Trump on Friday night after the president criticized him for backing down from his anthem stance. In a statement posted on Twitter, Brees told the president that the anthem protests were not about the flag, and that we as a white community need to listen and learn from the suffering of the black communities.
On Wednesday, Brees had said that he would never agree with anyone who would disrespect the flag by kneeling during the national anthem. That stance brought forth a torrent of criticism that eventually persuaded Brees to apologize twice over the next 36 hours.
That flip-flop caused President Trump to tweet at Brees on Friday afternoon, criticizing him for backing down:

WOW talk about bending over and taking it like a p*ssy..geez Drew, you are NOT a man you are a coward!! Turn over your man card Drew just turn it over and put on panties
And there you have it. And even then, it’s not enough.
“Some men live, just to see the world burn.”
Naturally Drew is sympathetic to his teammates. But the whole issue of protesting during the national anthem by kneeling is pointless, counterproductive, and doesn’t aid communication. Indeed, it puts a barrier between patriotic Americans and grieved parties.
They’re allowed to protest, even during the anthem. But here’s what needs to be discussed instead, quoting Drew:
“We must stop talking about the flag and shift our attention to the real issues of systemic racial injustice,”
Give specific examples of systematic racial injustice. That’s against the law. Each example is a crime.
Don’t protest generally, protest specifically.
“economic oppression, police brutality, and judicial and prison reform.”
These are all general charges. Who is oppressing black people? Each example of police brutality becomes a national issue when it’s white cop on a black person. What more do you want, other than justice for the victim?
“Judicial and prison reform”—I agree! It’s far too slow and the wrong crimes are punished. Crimes of property should be punished by the perpetrator paying back for as long as necessary while working.
Capital crimes: murder, rape, kidnapping, should have capital punishment. Then we’ll clear out our prisons.
“We are at a critical juncture in our nations history! If not now, then when?
We as a white community need to listen and learn from the pain and suffering of our black communities. We must acknowledge the problems, identify the solutions, and then put this into action. The black community cannot do it alone. This will require all of us.”
This last part I agree with. Just don’t protest meaninglessly.
Really;
Then kneel during the kickoff
Quick throw Brees the ball, he doesn’t have any!
If the Dems take control in November..instead of us all being EQUAL like it should be, blacks will have all the power..the looters, they will have all the power..if they steal, dont you dare call the cops(Which wont exist anymore anyway) because that would be racist..it will be a CRIME to be white, so bend over and turn over your wealth to the Dems, that will be the only way to get “Forgiveness”
“It is most certainly about the flag...”
If it wasn’t about the flag why do the act when it is celebrated with the national anthem that didn’t become that until the early 1900’s when the flag was there in the mid 1700’s.
A soldier doesn’t fight under the anthem, he fights under the flag. The anthem, on most military reservations, is played twice a day when the flag is raised and lowered. But the flag waves all day.
In 1986, president Ronald Reagan gave his own interpretation, saying, “The colors of our flag signify the qualities of the human spirit we Americans cherish. Red for courage and readiness to sacrifice; white for pure intentions and high ideals; and blue for vigilance and justice.”
If they had stood in solidarity under the flag doing their protest, I would laud them. But by demeaning the flag by using it as a prop to signify a political message, is no different than pimping it out.
rwood
no such thing as "communities" ...
Soon, it will be required to say, "We, as members of the oppressing class..."
Regards,
Brees is....was....one of the few NFL players who earned respect. All thrown away on the altar of PC and intimidation. Sad.
Pathetic. Brees didn’t write this. He certainly approved it, but this PC drivel is the work of PR people not that of a plain-spoken jock. His NFL career is over. Other players will sense weakness in him like mean dogs can sense fear.
Sorry Drew. It is about the flag. Regardless of any legitimate gripes, Kaepernick picked the flag to disrespect because it would get attention.
Now, if I were an NFL QB who wanted my O-line to protect me, and not let me get killed, I’m not sure what I’d say. But Drew is crumpling here. And after a great career, why not just be a stand-up guy, say what you think, and retire?
No more respect for Brees. A total coward.
Drew is in a weak position.
Receivers will drop passes.
Linemen will be bull fighters shouting “Ole” as pass rushers pursue Drew.
Demon reporters will ask post game leading questions to pint drew as a Ray’s sis
A true American kneels before none but God.
I guess he’s trying to dig himself out of a hole.
How the hell could the same person have written what he did on Wednesday, and then denounce it all on Friday??
Screw every rotten leftist that threatened him they are the dirt of this country and I spit on them.
And don’t tell me this is a racist country when you can threaten people like that!
Tough to begin a broadcast career with your mouth wired shut.
I dunno why would a purple lipped rateared dogeater who is half white and half black hate his white half?
